Does Your Friend Know About Jericho?

Recently, I was surprised to find that one of my acquaintances had never heard of Jericho or how the walls came tumbling down. She calls herself a Christian, but her parents make it hard for her to get to church and have the opportunity to hear about these stories. We spent twenty minutes just talking about the event and excavation of Jericho, and she was amazed! She hadn't realized there was that much proof in the Bible among other things, and she was encouraged!

I first learned about Jericho from my storybook Bible when I was so little I can barely even remember. But even though most of us who grew up in church have heard these historical accounts for years, they can have the power to open the door to the gospel and can plant a seed God can grow into a faith rooted and grounded in Him.

So, I began to think of some ways I could be more intentional to encourage and reach those around me for Jesus. But instead of just making it a blanket statement over everyone that I meet, it was decided that we wanted to focus on our family and close friends. Sometimes they are the ones we overlook while we are sharing the gospel with everyone else. Because let's face it. Talking to a stranger you will never see again about God is a lot easier than a friend or family member who might get offended, right?

But that is a fear I need to get over, so this entire month of July, let's give those closest to us a chance by encouraging them, and sharing our faith with them! But we aren't going all in just yet. Each week, we are going to build up to making an impact in your friend or family members life! And we are going to do that through the Weekly Challenges!
