Teenagers Have Gospel-Sharing Superpowers

Did you know that young people have gospel-sharing superpowers? I sure wouldn't have guested this, and Most people never would have guessed this either, but it's true. The truth is teenagers and young adults have an advantage while sharing the gospel that adults and even kids don't have.

How often does another teenager, that is a complete stranger to you, walk up to you smiling? I would say... pretty much never, at least in my case. Most of the time, I feel like teenagers and young people are frowning and pouting, whether they have a reason for it or not. This is such a consistent performance, teenagers are now known to be moody and unreasonable. I'm sorry to admit that I've probably contributed to this idea. But imagine the shock someone would get if a young person walked up to them smiling. It would disarm them. I'm willing to bet that they would listen better to what the young person was saying just because they weren't used to a teenager being so nice and friendly.

We as Christian teenagers and young adults can use this to our advantage. When we walk up to someone to share the gospel, it is so important that we remember to smile and be friendly. And that smile just might help that person take a step towards salvation. Even when we don't feel like smiling- and I definitely can relate to that- we need to keep in mind that our smile is our superpower.

When teenagers and young adults act friendly, people are more likely to hear them out when they share the gospel. And just the novelty that a young person is being nice to them will make it all the harder from them to be mean or protest. Adults smile all the time, and of course people would assume a cute little kid would smile at them. But never the moody teenagers. I'm being serious. It's incredible what a simple smile, especially when it comes from a teenager, can do.

Sometimes as a teen and young adult, it can feel hard to share the gospel. After all, would the person you're talking to even listen? This is a hard part of life where we can want to be heard but people sometimes ignore us. Trust me, I know.

"Don't let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

Despite being young, we can make a difference. And that difference can begin being made with just the superpower of a smile.
